The front section of the pressure hull of the C-Explorer 5 is a hemispherical viewport.
The aft part of the C-Explorer 5’s pressure hull is a steel hemispherical part, which also includes the entry hatch for the occupants.
Diving tanks provide buoyancy and stability on the surface. U-Boat Worx’ flexible diving tanks are made of rubber-like Hypalon®. When deflated to dive they completely compress, and do not replace their volume with water. This greatly increases underwater performance as there is no additional underwater mass, improving the streamline. Storing the submersible with deflated diving tanks also requires less space.
The latest in Lithium-ion battery technology is used to give our submersibles the ultimate performance, lowest weight, smallest footprint, and best endurance possible. The 42 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack can be quickly recharged and is maintenance-free.
A total of six electrical brushless DC thrusters propel the C-Explorer 5 to unparalleled levels of performance. Four of the six thrusters are configured as vectored horizontal, which introduces an exceptional sideward movement capability.
The Safety Buoy is characteristic for U-Boat Worx submersibles. When released it marks the position of the submarine on the surface. The safety buoy of the deep-diving C-Researcher models also sends a signal to the mother ship. The Dyneema Rope that connects the buoy with the submersible measures 1.5 times the operating depth of the submersible.
The single lifting point makes launch and recovery quick and easy. By only having to attach it at one point – to the crane – you create a safer environment. With the quick-release and efficient-connect lifting gear, you can be quickly in and out of the water. If desired, its man-riding certification supports lifting operations to take place with people inside.
When designing the C-Explorer series, U-Boat Worx followed these key guidelines: safety, performance, comfort and visibility, meaning our subs provide the ultimate way to successfully explore the ocean.

The U-Boat Worx Information System (UIS) gives the pilot direct access to all relevant information on a clear touch-screen display. This PLC-based sensory network ensures the right information is provided at the right time. Pilot training is made easier with our UIS, it keeps the Pilot focused on the things that matter most.
To experience the underwater world in the optimal way, one of U-Boat Worx’ design priorities has always been the clearest view. Our remarkably clear fully acrylic pressure hull provides an unobstructed view in every direction, unimpeded by ballast tanks, batteries and other components. As a pilot trainee view is of the utmost importance, besides the Sonar and 360 camera the C-Explorer 5 offers, having a clear field of view will help you with navigational exercises.
The MANTA Controller allows for pinpoint precision manoeuvring. The intuitive controls allow for a low learning curve for all pilot trainees. The controller allows quick access to intelligent pilot assistance functions such as Auto-heading and Auto-depth.
